Jessica’s Houde Summit 2025 Workshop:

MEISNER TECHNIQUE: BUILDING TRUTHFUL, SPONTANEOUS ACTORS

Whether you're brand new to the Meisner Technique or a seasoned student, this class meets you exactly where you are. Under the guidance of Jessica Houde-Morris, you'll work at your individual stage — with each actor receiving personalized instruction while observing how the technique unfolds at every level.

Through progressive exercises, you'll learn to improvise truthfully, access emotional life, and bring authentic, personal responses to scripted work. The work begins with moment-to-moment listening and builds toward fully embodied performances — where instinct, vulnerability, and text come together in a way that feels alive, moment to moment.

This class isn't about performing — it's about retraining how you listen, respond, and create truthfully under imaginary circumstances. Whether you're taking your first step or deepening your craft, this class will push you to let go of control and trust your impulses like never before.

SCENE WORK – CREATING ACTION-BASED CHARACTERS

During this 3-hour in-person class, Erica offers on-your-feet instruction and individual direction.

Twelve participants will spend time not only building character, applying craft tools, and gaining confidence, but also work a scene on-camera to create authentic, original performance. Grounded in the detailed study of a scene, actors practice efficient, effective techniques for creating action-based characters. Together, we’ll harness each individual’s theatrical craft and practice using tools and methodology to internalize authenticity for the screen as well as amplify their film/tv charisma.

Observers join in the warmup, witness Erica (using her directing skill) work with participants, and gain an inside perspective to what a film professional expects, specifically the preparation required for creative collaboration. Observation is a profound and necessary muscle in one’s craft toolkit.

This class provides a rare opportunity for actors, directors, writers, and other film artists to gain a deeper understanding and perspective of craft.

His TV credits include Boardwalk Empire, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, America Horror Story and Law & Order: Organized Crime.

He has appeared on SNL and has shared the screen with some of the best comedians in the business, like Awkwafina, Aziz Ansari, Melissa McCarthy, Ray Romano, Sebastian Maniscalco, and Tiffany Haddish. In addition, James also teaches acting in his New York-based community, Show Up To Book The Role.

James’ Houde Summit 2025 Workshop:

ON THE CLOCK – OFF-BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE

Memorizing lines isn't the goal — living them is. This class is designed to free the actor to embody a deeper connection to the text…helping them get off-book in an organic, truthful way without getting stuck in mechanical repetition.

Through scene analysisbeat work, and innovative techniques like picturizationfree association, and visual assignments, you'll build a relationship with the text that feels alive in your body. We'll explore how to use personal substitutions, acronyms, rehearsal apps, and even Synesthesia-inspired methods — engaging your senses to make the text second nature.

This process isn't about being word perfect — it's about being truthful and organic while creating a foundation that allows your instincts to take over in the quick-turn-around audition process. You'll receive a comprehensive 60-page PDF guide (also available in video form) to support your practice outside of class.

Get off-book faster — with more truth, freedom, and confidence.

ON CAMERA: DEVELOPING A SCENE

Take your on-camera acting to the next level in this dynamic, hands-on workshop with Kurt Yue.

In this class, each actor will be paired up and assigned a scene in advance (they will be sent out on Thursday, August 14th), giving you time to prepare before stepping in front of the camera. You'll break down the text — learning how to analyze a scene, uncover its emotional layers, and make specific, personal choices.

But the work doesn’t stop at the table — you'll learn how to translate all that preparation into a nuanced, authentic performance on camera. From subtle adjustments in eyelines to understanding how the camera picks up every thought behind your eyes, this class will help you craft performances that feel alive and truthful — without ever feeling forced.

Whether you're new to on-camera work or ready to sharpen your craft, this workshop will give you the tools to deliver grounded, camera-ready performances that leave a lasting impression.

THE PRESSURE TO PERFORM: IMPROV FOR THE ACTOR

Stop trying to get it “right” and start living in the moment.

As actors, we often fall into the trap of self-editing, worrying about what casting directors, agents, or audiences want to see. But real, compelling performances don’t come from trying to please others—they come from embracing your authentic self and trusting the moment.

Improv isn’t just for comedy—it’s everywhere in the industry. Whether you're:

  • Navigating unexpected moments in an audition

  • Bringing spontaneity to a commercial shoot

  • Adjusting to last-minute script changes on set

  • Making stronger connections with agents, managers, and fellow actors

This class will help you let go of expectations, stop overthinking, and become more confident in your instincts.

You don’t need to be funny. You don’t need to be clever. You just need to be present.
